The Conservative Party's prospective parliamentary candidate, Julie Searle, came a creditable second in the race to become the member of parliament for the Denton & Reddish constituency. Labour won, with the Lib Dems third (the same order as in May, 2005).
The incumbent, Labour's Andrew Gwynne, saw his share of the vote drop by 5.6% whilst Conservative Julie Searle polled 36.8% more votes than Alex Story managed to obtain back in 2005.

- Andrew Gwynne (Labour) 19,191 votes.
- Julie Searle (Conservative) 9,360 votes.
- Stephen Broadhurst (Liberal Democrat) 6,727 votes.
- William Robinson (UKIP) 2,060 votes.
- Jeff Dennis (Independent) 297 votes.
