Conservatives Second in Denton & Reddish

The Conservative Party's prospective parliamentary candidate, Julie Searle, came a creditable second in the race to become the member of parliament for the Denton & Reddish constituency. Labour won, with the Lib Dems third (the same order as in May, 2005).

The incumbent, Labour's Andrew Gwynne, saw his share of the vote drop by 5.6% whilst Conservative Julie Searle polled 36.8% more votes than Alex Story managed to obtain back in 2005.

  1. Andrew Gwynne (Labour) 19,191 votes.
  2. Julie Searle (Conservative) 9,360 votes.
  3. Stephen Broadhurst (Liberal Democrat) 6,727 votes.
  4. William Robinson (UKIP) 2,060 votes.
  5. Jeff Dennis (Independent) 297 votes.

The turnout, in our constituency, for yesterday's General Election was 58.1% which is a rise of 5.6% over the last General Election back in May, 2005. Click on the images to see the vote share and a comparison of voting behaviour to the previous General Election.
